Welcome to The Sister Fix: Your New Safe Space for Connection

I’m Dominique, and I’m excited to welcome you to The Sister Fix, a brand-new blog where we get real, share stories, and build a community together. If you’re looking for a space where you can connect, be vulnerable, laugh, cry, and grow, then you’ve found the right place.

Who is Big Sis?

Let me introduce myself: I’m Dominique, your Big Sis on this journey. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats—wife, mom, career woman, daughter, sister, friend, leader, and learner. But to be honest, some of those hats have worn me, too. Life has a way of throwing us curveballs, and while I don’t claim to be an expert in any one field, I do have a wealth of life experiences that I’m excited to share with you.

I’ve always loved to write—something I’ve been passionate about since I was young. Now, I’m pushing past my anxiety to dive back into it with this blog. I also have a tendency to talk; my grandma used to joke that I talk to hear myself talk—an old Southern saying that’s not entirely wrong! But alongside my love for conversation, I genuinely enjoy listening and connecting with others.

As your Big Sis, I see myself as both a guide and a family member. There will be times when I’ll lead the way, offering advice or sharing stories from my own experiences in marriage, motherhood, and career. But just as often, I’ll be right there with you, learning and growing alongside you. I’m committed to being both the teacher and the student because I believe that’s how we make a real impact—by sharing what we’ve learned and being open to learning from others.

Why The Sister Fix?

So why start The Sister Fix? Because I believe there’s a need for a space where we can be our authentic selves without judgment. Whether you’re navigating the ups and downs of marriage, the chaos of parenthood, the challenges of building a career, or just life in general, I want you to know that you’re not alone.

This blog is all about keeping it real. We’ll talk about everything under the sun—things that make us laugh, things that make us cry, and everything in between. Vulnerability is where true connection happens, and by sharing our stories—the good, the bad, and the ugly—we can create a community where everyone feels seen and heard.

What to Expect from The Sister Fix

Since this is a brand-new blog, let me give you a sneak peek into what you can expect:

  • Random Topics: Life is full of little moments that make us smile, scratch our heads, or laugh out loud. We’ll talk about those random, everyday things that bring us joy or curiosity.

  • Deep Conversations: We’ll dive into deeper topics like personal growth, mental health, spirituality, and everything in between. These are the conversations that help us grow and understand ourselves and each other better.

  • Light-Hearted Chats: Sometimes, we need a break from the heavy stuff. We’ll have plenty of surface-level chats about things like the latest trends, dating, siblings, or whatever else is on our minds.

  • Tackling Controversy: We won’t shy away from controversial topics. It’s important to have these discussions with respect and openness, even when we don’t always agree. My hope is that we can learn from each other and grow together, no matter what the topic.

Building Momentum Towards The Sister Fix Podcast

The Sister Fix blog is just the beginning. As we build momentum here, I’m excited to share that a podcast is in the works! The blog is a way to start our conversations, but the podcast will take things to the next level. We’ll be able to connect not just through written words, but through spoken ones as well. Whether it’s through interviews, deep dives, or just chatting about life, the podcast will give us another avenue to grow closer and support one another.

The podcast will cover a mix of everything we talk about here—random musings, deep dives, light-hearted chats, and maybe even a few controversial topics. It’s going to be a space where we can really get to know each other’s voices, share our stories, and continue building this amazing family of siblings.

Final Thoughts: Being Heard and Being Loved

Before we wrap up this first post, I want to share a quote that has always resonated with me: “Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person, they are almost indistinguishable,” by David W. Augsburger. In my experience, this is the ultimate truth. Here in this corner of the world we’re creating together, my goal is for everyone to feel heard, because to be heard is to be loved.

In everything I do, I strive to keep God at the center. While I may be a little unorthodox in my approach, Jesus is my foundation, and I believe that the most valuable things in life are often those that go unseen.

As 2 Corinthians 4:18 beautifully reminds us, “We look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” This is a call to action to live for the eternal, for that which is unseen.

So, as we embark on this journey together, let’s focus on what truly matters—the love, connection, and support that we build here, and the eternal impact it will have on our lives. I’m so grateful to have you here as part of The Sister Fix-family, and I can’t wait to see how we’ll grow together. Stay tuned, because there’s so much more to come!
